Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been shooting professionally?
I’ve been shooting professionally since 2004
Do you have wedding packages?
My wedding prices are based on an hourly rate/amount of coverage. There are a couple of add-ons, but I like to keep things simple, so I don’t make wedding “packages.” If you have a special request or question please let me know.
Do you do your own retouching, or send your work out?
I do all of my own retouching, every bit of it.
Where are you located?
I am currently located in Santa Cruz, California.
How far are you willing to travel for a photoshoot?
Anywhere! I’ll do your portraits on a hillside in Peru, if you want them there. I do have travel fees for long distances, however. Those vary depending on distance and the time it will take to arrive at the shoot destination. Please contact me for a quote.
How long do photoshoots typically last, or need to be?
This varies with every session. There is a one hour minimum to book a shoot, but after that, it’s whatever the client and I decide will be sufficient for them.
After our shoot, how long will it take to get my images?
I get all of your images finished within about three weeks of the session date. This isn’t one-hour photo, and it does take time and effort to retouch images. This time is an investment on your images, and the finished product is worth the wait, I assure you. Individual images CAN be retouched and sent ahead of the rest via email if requested, but a rush fee will be incurred.
How will I receive my images?
You will receive your images on a hi-rez cd, along with a contact sheet of thumbnails with corresponding ID numbers, and a document granting you PERSONAL USE of your images for printing/copying. This cd can be loaded onto your computer, printed from, etc.
How many images will I get?
Photoshoots usually average about 30 images per hour of shooting, with the exception of weddings and event photography, which average about 50 images per hour.
Can I get proofs?
Proofs are available, if requested, for an additional fee.
When is payment due?
Payment is due 24 hours prior to photoshoots, and wedding payment is due 14 days before the wedding date.
What does my session fee include and why is it due in advance?
Your session fee doesn’t just cover shooting, it also covers the retouching time that happens afterward, and that needs to be paid for in advance.
What is your stand on copyright? Do I own my images?
This is a marvelous question, and you can find the answer here.
Is EVERYTHING retouched, or just some of the images? Do I get to pick which ones, or do you?
All of your images will be retouched.
I accidentally lost my disc of images, what now?
I archive all of my shoots, so if you misplace your disc, I can make and send you another one. There will be a small processing fee, but you can hold your disc in your hands once again.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my photoshoot?
That’s fine. Rescheduled shoots will be moved to the date and time that works for you, but if a cancellation is made under 24 hours before the shoot, you will be refunded your balance MINUS your deposit, which is non-refundable for holding your timeslot.
How can I make a payment?
You can pay your balance or deposit here on the website. Simply fill out the information requested, and you will be linked up to our secure paypal account, where you can use an echeck or credit card. Of course, you can also mail in checks, but just make sure they arrive in advance of your scheduled shoot.
